  • Dairy products: Such as cheese contains calcium and is known to strengthen bones and enamel. Cheese also contains casein protein, which helps stabilize and repair enamel.

These are not substitutes for brushing, of course,  but consuming these along with proper hygiene habits will result in superior oral health.

Cutting down on your sugar intake will help keep your teeth clean and healthy. Sugar is bad for your teeth because it promotes bacterial growth which causes plaque to form. Once this happens the plaque attacks your enamel and gums, and if left alone long enough it can lead to tooth decay. Drinking soda is one of the main ways people consume excess sugar. Along with the sugar soda also contains citric acid and phosphoric acid which have been shown to eat away your enamel, making you more susceptible to cavities. Although an occasional soda isn’t going to hurt you, it is better to stick to water. If you need some extra flavor try adding various fruits or herbs.

It is essential that you routinely visit the dentist for care. Regular dental care will help eliminate many teeth related problems. It is recommended that teeth cleanings and dental checkups are scheduled every six months.
